HR Strange But True

Fleeting Fame Finds ‘Celebs’ Back at Work

As they say, fame is fleeting.  Just ask these former celebrities who are back on the job in the real, not reel, working world, reports Yahoo Celebrity.

Former “Hairspray” star and “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Nikki Blonsky has earned a cosmetology license and is working at a salon in Long Island as a make-up artist.  The day job, she says, still gives her time to pursue her show biz career.

Seems the food service industry is more welcoming. Blaming his reality fame, Jon Gosselin, father of eight, is working as a waiter in Pennsylvania and blaming his celebrity for other potential employers shying away from hiring him. Dylan Spouse, former kid star on DisneyChannel’s “Suite Life of Dylan and Cody,” is working as a host at a midtown NYC restaurant, says Yahoo.  Both Gosselin and Spouse say their new jobs are fun because they like to socialize with people.

Robert Van Winkle, better known as Vanilla Ice, used his real-world career to get back to reality with a show following him as he swings hammers and pounds nails “flipping” houses by doing his own renovations. And Steven Seagal, not a C-list celeb, who had flown under the radar working a “second job” as a police officer in Louisiana for 20 years, also parlayed his second career into a reality show.

Yahoo Celebrity also reports that Susan Boyle, of instant singing fame, saw a help wanted sign at a betting parlor for a part-time job.  She inquired about it with the manager, but must have reconsidered as she did not return the job application he gave her.
